Around 6000 hotels, restaurants and delicatessen stores are on the customer list of Germany´s nerve centre for gourmets: "Rungis". 300 tonnes of fresh foods are delivered to 2500 customers every night. Giant refrigerated truck-trailers bring goods from all over Europe, products from overseas are flown in by air. The firm has evolved a global network with its own suppliers: of Nile perch from Lake Victoria, for instance, or saddle of venison from New Zealand. And it goes without saying that the boss is very often on hand at the point of origin to personally carry out a quality check. |
